Title Transfer Complete on Galiano Affordable Housing Site

Transfer of title for the 2-hectare lot zoned for 12 units of affordable rental housing at 1663 Georgia View Road is now complete.

This important milestone marks the culmination of a process led by the Gulf Islands Galisle Affordable Rental Housing Society (GIGARHS) beginning in 2018 with pre-development, rezoning in 2022, and subdivision in 2024.

Title has been transferred from the Galiano Club to the Galiano Affordable Living Initiative Society (GALI), with GIGARHS as development partner. GALI and GIGARHS recognize the work of the Galiano Club for seeing the original vision for the Community Forest through to fruition.

Yesterday was a fun day at the Georgia View housing site! Many thanks to our intrepid broom bashers (Shelley, Dianne, Mike, Christian, Finn, Dylan, and Colleen) who lopped, pulled, and lugged tarps of broom. Your efforts made a difference!

The weather was on our side. We had a nice turnout from community members who came to walk the site, catch up on the project, and maybe enjoy a cup of scrumptious hot chocolate served up by the Raise the Roof Team.

Great News! Transfer of title for the 2-hectare lot zoned for 12 units of affordable rental housing at 1663 Georgia View Road is now complete. This important milestone marks the culmination of a process led by GIGARHS beginning in 2018 with pre-development, rezoning in 2022, and subdivision in 2024.

GIGARHS and our sister organization GALI (Galiano Affordable Living Initiative Society) have worked closely together over the years. GALI is a Registered Charitable Organization and so title has been transferred from the Galiano Club to GALI, with GIGARHS as development partner.

GIGARHS thanks the community for their tremendous support through rezoning and beyond, and GALI for their continued partnership. Together we will work with governments and funders to address Galiano’s urgent housing shortage.
